All hand-stitching is done in Laura’s workshop. Before making hats Laura trained at the London College of Fashion and also as an interior designer with Colefax and Fowler in Mayfair where she developed her eye for beautiful fabrics and designs. After learning her craft working for milliner Gina Foster, Laura set up her own boutique in Chelsea in 2011 before moving to Shropshire.
Laura Cathcart hats appear regularly in magazine fashion shoots, from Sunday Times Style to YOU magazine. Her clients include many stylish and well known individuals from the worlds of royalty, racing, business, Society and fashion. Her hats are always chic and distinctive at race meetings, weddings and special occasions all year.
Laura collaborates with luxury brands, fashion houses and English season sporting festivals to create distinctive and unique pieces for race meetings, commercial branding (including bespoke retail shop window creations) and special corporate events.
These collaborations include creating an acclaimed Royal Ascot window display of hats designed like chocolates for the Bond Street windows of royal chocolatier Charbonell & Walker and being chosen as an official milliner of Royal Ascot in 2016 (as part of the Royal Ascot Millinery Collective).
